Giving yourself grace to not have all the answers and enjoying life with the unknowns of the future.
Recently, I found myself back in my childhood bedroom, living with my parents after two years of living in a city on my own. When I first moved out after college, I never anticipated returning to live with my parents again. However, during this transitional period, I have come to realize, and even embrace the fact that sometimes hitting pause and settling into a waiting period is necessary. Taking a break, resting, and not having all the answers is okay, especially in our twenties when there’s immense pressure to have it all figured out. If you are in a season of waiting or find yourself in between where you used to be and where you wanna be and you’re trying to figure out who you are, this blog is for you.
- Embrace the Pause:
When faced with uncertainty and the constant question of “what’s next?”, it’s essential to give yourself permission to pause. There can be pressure to have our lives mapped out, but the truth is that it’s perfectly fine not to have all the answers. Taking a break from the constant hustle and bustle of trying to figure everything out allows you to gain clarity and a deeper understanding of yourself and your aspirations.
- Keep it Real:
When people ask about your future plans and you’re unsure, take away the pressure that you need to have the perfect answer. Most of the time, these conversations are just casual small talk, and people will respect your honesty and realness. Remember, you are not alone in navigating this transitional phase, and it’s alright to admit that you are still in the process of discovering what’s next for you.
- Realize It’s a Journey for Everyone:
Feeling like you need to have all the answers can be overwhelming, but it’s essential to recognize that everyone is figuring it out in their own way. No one has all the answers, and you are not an exception to this rule. Embrace the fact that life is a continuous journey, and the process of self-discovery takes time. Instead of fixating on the destination, focus on enjoying the journey itself, and embrace the growth and lessons it brings along the way.
- Utilize the Waiting Period:
Rather than viewing the waiting period as a setback, consider it a pivotal moment for personal growth. Use this time to delve deep into self-reflection and explore what truly matters to you. Realign your goals and aspirations based on your current values and aspirations. Engage in activities that bring you joy, learn new skills, and pursue hobbies that inspire you. The waiting period can be transformative if you approach it with an open mind and a willingness to explore new possibilities.
When faced with the incessant question of “what’s next?” and uncertainty about the future, it’s crucial to give yourself the time and space to figure things out. Embrace the pause, communicate your need for space, and realize that everyone is on their own unique journey of self-discovery. The waiting period provides an invaluable opportunity for self-reflection, goal realignment, and personal growth. So, if you find yourself in a season of waiting, know that it’s alright not to have all the answers. Embrace this transitional time, explore new possibilities, and trust that clarity will come when the time is right. Remember, your journey is unique, and the process of finding your path is just as important as the destination itself.
